    [ VIDEO: AFTERNOON ]
[ The background of trees familiar to a certain town fills the video as Sakura remains perched high up on a branch of one. A bit of movement and there, finally the camera was angled on her. Despite the unsettling additions from Konoha, she seems to be in a pleasant mood. Finally having mastered her poker face, she leans back against the trunk with a knee pulled towards her chest. ]

A great deal of us rely on the PokeGear listing as a roster of those we know, but that's not the best resource. How many of you have been surprised at seeing someone younger or older than you last saw them? [ Or how many of them have seen the dead come back to life? ] The whole thing is unsettling when you think about it so I've given it a great deal of thought myself. When a person first arrives, they're already so overwhelmed with the situation that adding more pressure may do more harm than good. Wouldn't it be easier to assign an individual to speak with them to discover what they might have witnessed in their life to better protect them?

Well, I'm not sure about that myself. This world has a surprisingly low amount of counsel when it comes to problems of that nature. [ Is she just talking to be talking? Yes, but it's keeping her from being bummed out from other things. ] Anyway, I'd like to keep a roster of things for my own personal record so if you're an ally of mine from back home, do us both a favor and just tell me what you last remember.

[ Adding on strictly: ] In private. I'm not saying I'd be a counselor for that kind of thing, but it'd be nice to keep a personalized roster.

    [ TEXT: NIGHT ]
[ Sometime later in the day (likely after she's had several conversations with others), Sakura will sit down to communicate once more with the network over the PokeGear. While she's neglected the world of Pokemon when it came to her peers (she's too distracted with other concerns), Sakura makes up for it by studying the vast amounts of information there is on the subject. Most of the time this takes place before she sleeps, suffering from late night and short bursts of rest. This comes in later in the evening, maybe at a hour that most would be asleep. ]

I've been working on better balancing my Pokemon party, but I'm not sure who would make a good choice for the sixth Pokemon.
I have a Happiny, Blaziken, Audino, Petilil, and Joltik.
That means I have the following types covered: normal, fire, grass, and electric.
What would you suggest to balance the team?
I'd like to capture or maybe even trade for a new one since I've had to take care of a lot of baby Pokemon as of recent.
Although I do read that's even better in the long run so maybe I'll just hatch a new one.
Experienced trainers, what do you think?
I'm looking to win.

[He had to admit, it didn't sound like a bad idea.]

So basically, you're suggesting that this place have official liasons, rather than a cluster of us yelling answers? I guess that could be doable.

Would they get paid for this?

[Replying only to her second post! Because he's not qualified to answer. After all, he's the one who's different and not the other way around.]

Psychic, water, rock, steel or dark.

Your team seems more offense-based, save for Happiny who is defensive and I'm not sure about Audino. If you want something to round out your offense, you may want to try for a dark or psychic type. If you want something more well-founded to cover a lot of bases, water can help. For Pokemon on the more defensive side, rock and steel. Of course, if you really want to stomp your opponent and you're willing to train for a long time, try dragon types, or Dragonite, Tyranitar, Salamence, Metagross, Garchomp and Hydreigon, most of which are dragons anyway.

You might want to have something that can ward off Ground or Rock types, like Water. Maybe even keep your Normals from Fighting types, too. Water is good all around, and I know most go for Gyarados to cover that, but there are other options.

Something with Steel could be good for both offense and defense. Dragons can be hard to come by, as they're rare and they're priced a bit high from those who sell them, but they're seen in most teams.

Ice and other dragons are their only weaknesses, while they are strong against grass, fire, electric, and water. Steels resist them, but that's about it. Of course, pure steels resist anything that's not fire, fighting or ground.

True. Sorry I can't help much with it, but I'm not good with stuff like that. Back home, another guy did the brainy stuff. If Jim were here, he'd have this set up in no time.

My problem-solving skills kinda' fall more into the "punching and shooting things" category.

[personal profile] eagletalons 2013-06-18 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
It honestly depends on what kind of dual type you're looking for. What is it you want?
memoryborn: (and that we were nothing)

[personal profile] memoryborn 2013-06-18 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Not unless you treat them badly.

It's really a matter of trying to cover your weaknesses with other Pokemon to support them. Have you been told of all the Type weaknesses?

I know Vaporeon is a Water type that can do what you're asking for. He can learn Acid Armor and Aqua Ring is a move that heals them. It can learn both of those moves naturally. Toxic can be taught to some Water types, too.

[personal profile] caster_blaster 2013-06-18 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you know. Shooting. Guns. Bang-bang. You pull the trigger on one side of the room, guys die on the other side.

[Though around here...]

Okay, so maybe this place doesn't have 'em. Surely you knew what they were back home, or are you from another low-tech world?

[personal profile] eagletalons 2013-06-18 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
There's no steel/ice unfortunately. A lot of poison-type Pokemon meanwhile can be found almost everywhere. One of the most common families is the Zubat line, found usually at night.

I can't wait to see your team on video! They sound incredible! How many types are there? I'd request something that can brawl in close quarters combat, or something resilient.

Also, do you wish to learn the last thing I remember? I believe you might already know the result if you're from war time.
memoryborn: (you can get addicted)

[personal profile] memoryborn 2013-06-18 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
There's that.

You can get it by getting an Eevee first, then using a Water Stone to make it evolve.

[personal profile] caster_blaster 2013-06-18 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Low-tech. For me, that's any place that doesn't have long-distance FTL travel. This place, for instance. This whole country is fairly low-tech.

I guess. Personally, I'm used to a bit more excitement. Here there are no bounties to hunt. I get restless. Not nearly as many bars as back home, either.

[personal profile] eagletalons 2013-06-18 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
The two Nidoran lines: Poison at first, and if you decide to evolve them to their highest forms, they become Poison/Ground

Stunky: Half dark, found only in Ilex Forest as far as I know.

Skorupi: Half-bug but turns half-dark instead when evolved. I've seen it around Ecruteak and Violet mostly, but there are some in other routes.

Bulbasaur: Half-grass, found mostly in Ilex Forest.

I don't know enough about them, as my only poison-type right now is my Ariados, which is common enough.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[As someone who's been on the exact wrong end of the timelines problem recently and had to mull it over...]

Hm... in theory, that seems like a fine idea, but I'm not entirely sure how well it would work in practice. Granted, I got the impression that you're suggesting something specific to each world represented among our population-something more general would probably work perfectly well.
