    [ VIDEO: AFTERNOON ]
[ The background of trees familiar to a certain town fills the video as Sakura remains perched high up on a branch of one. A bit of movement and there, finally the camera was angled on her. Despite the unsettling additions from Konoha, she seems to be in a pleasant mood. Finally having mastered her poker face, she leans back against the trunk with a knee pulled towards her chest. ]

A great deal of us rely on the PokeGear listing as a roster of those we know, but that's not the best resource. How many of you have been surprised at seeing someone younger or older than you last saw them? [ Or how many of them have seen the dead come back to life? ] The whole thing is unsettling when you think about it so I've given it a great deal of thought myself. When a person first arrives, they're already so overwhelmed with the situation that adding more pressure may do more harm than good. Wouldn't it be easier to assign an individual to speak with them to discover what they might have witnessed in their life to better protect them?

Well, I'm not sure about that myself. This world has a surprisingly low amount of counsel when it comes to problems of that nature. [ Is she just talking to be talking? Yes, but it's keeping her from being bummed out from other things. ] Anyway, I'd like to keep a roster of things for my own personal record so if you're an ally of mine from back home, do us both a favor and just tell me what you last remember.

[ Adding on strictly: ] In private. I'm not saying I'd be a counselor for that kind of thing, but it'd be nice to keep a personalized roster.

    [ TEXT: NIGHT ]
[ Sometime later in the day (likely after she's had several conversations with others), Sakura will sit down to communicate once more with the network over the PokeGear. While she's neglected the world of Pokemon when it came to her peers (she's too distracted with other concerns), Sakura makes up for it by studying the vast amounts of information there is on the subject. Most of the time this takes place before she sleeps, suffering from late night and short bursts of rest. This comes in later in the evening, maybe at a hour that most would be asleep. ]

I've been working on better balancing my Pokemon party, but I'm not sure who would make a good choice for the sixth Pokemon.
I have a Happiny, Blaziken, Audino, Petilil, and Joltik.
That means I have the following types covered: normal, fire, grass, and electric.
What would you suggest to balance the team?
I'd like to capture or maybe even trade for a new one since I've had to take care of a lot of baby Pokemon as of recent.
Although I do read that's even better in the long run so maybe I'll just hatch a new one.
Experienced trainers, what do you think?
I'm looking to win.

[He had to admit, it didn't sound like a bad idea.]

So basically, you're suggesting that this place have official liasons, rather than a cluster of us yelling answers? I guess that could be doable.

Would they get paid for this?
18th-Jun-2013 01:37 am (UTC)
Well, I don't have the money to organize this...

[ But she can organize something like that. ] Maybe if there were volunteers or donations to start it off with. It'd be difficult with how randomized the departures are and well, who has time to teach new volunteers every time that happens?

True. Sorry I can't help much with it, but I'm not good with stuff like that. Back home, another guy did the brainy stuff. If Jim were here, he'd have this set up in no time.

My problem-solving skills kinda' fall more into the "punching and shooting things" category.
18th-Jun-2013 01:45 am (UTC)
[ Punching things? Sakura's got that on lockdown. ]

A person can be both of those things, you know. The brainy stuff and the punching things.

Shooting though?

Yeah, you know. Shooting. Guns. Bang-bang. You pull the trigger on one side of the room, guys die on the other side.

[Though around here...]

Okay, so maybe this place doesn't have 'em. Surely you knew what they were back home, or are you from another low-tech world?
18th-Jun-2013 03:35 am (UTC)
Low-tech world?

[ Not exactly, but she's not familiar with guns. There's plenty of ways to kill someone across a room in her world, but deciding against advertising that, she just gives a nod. ]

I guess so. Impressive what other things there are in various worlds, don't you think?

Low-tech. For me, that's any place that doesn't have long-distance FTL travel. This place, for instance. This whole country is fairly low-tech.

I guess. Personally, I'm used to a bit more excitement. Here there are no bounties to hunt. I get restless. Not nearly as many bars as back home, either.
18th-Jun-2013 11:38 am (UTC)
[ People really do come from strange worlds, she concludes. Long-distance FTL travel? Bounties? This man is from a world just as harsh as her own, but he doesn't seem to be all that worn down from it. ]

You're a mercenary? [ He can't be a soldier with that attitude, can he? ] Bars, bounties, that's the sort of thing those individuals talk about.

I'm an Outlaw, so...kinda'? Guess context would help.

[Let him just clear his throat for a moment.]

See, when humanity moved out to the stars, it was an untamed land. A lot of areas still are. If you're not under the rule of galactic law enforcement, and you're not in the pirate guilds, then you're on your own. That's what Outlaws are.

We maintain our independence, and do whatever jobs come our way. I've done bounty hunting, repair, retrieval, body guarding, the whole shebang. It's dangerous, but exciting.
22nd-Jun-2013 03:53 am (UTC)
The stars?

[ She looks up towards the sky briefly, then back down to the PokeGear resting in her lap. ]

So that's what happened in your world, huh? Outlaws, in many other worlds, are considered dangerous aren't they?
punches: (Default)
22nd-Jun-2013 04:23 am (UTC)
Yeah. You know there are multiple worlds, right? Each star you see in the sky is another sun, many with planets around them.

Well, there's outlaws and there are "Outlaws". One describes a general term for any old criminal, and the other describes what I do. Not all "Outlaws" are criminals, but all criminals are outlaws, get it?
25th-Jun-2013 08:20 am (UTC)
Multiple worlds...

[ That's impressive; so much that she's not sure she can believe it. It makes sense a little, but until she sees it for her own eyes. ]

Why use the same term if it has a negative meaning to describe something else? Wouldn't it be better to call yourself something else?
